Aa List Dog Grooming, LLC
At Aa List Dog Grooming, LLC, our mission is to bond with your pet and gain your trust while providing you both with quality grooming services in the safest location possible, your home.
My name is Kristine Wanamaker and I am a professional certified dog groomer in Coeur d'Alene, and owner of Aa List Dog Grooming, LLC, Since I was a young girl, I have always had a keen interest and respect for dogs. Their ability to give unconditional love and loyalty has always fascinated me and drawn me to them. I have had small and large breeds throughout my life and found every one of them to be unique and very special to me in their own way. No matter what their breed or size, nothing would bring me more joy than training and spending time with my best friend.
I was living in Alaska working as a heavy equipment operator, at a gold mine, when the COVID pandemic hit. That's when my husband and I decided to leave Alaska and start our lives over near our family in northern Idaho. Before I left, I started training with a professional dog groomer on my days off from the mine. Once I arrived in Coeur d'Alene, ID, I completed a certification program through Animal Behavior College, and then continued my training at Cory's K-9 Grooming in Hayden, ID, where I still work today.
I have chosen to branch out to in-home grooming because I am seeing a need for home dog groomers that provide a quality professional service for those dogs who have issues being groomed outside their homes and also for owners that have a difficult time getting their dogs to a salon for grooming and nail trims. I also feel that this is a great opportunity to bond with dogs and their owners while giving them both peace of mind by being in the comfort of their own home!

In-home grooming is when a groomer comes to your home and cares for your dog's grooming needs in your home as compared to "mobile grooming" where the groom takes place in a van outside of your home.
I am currently serving:
Certified means that the groomer chose to invest in a formal educational program, teaching them the different aspects of grooming. What pet parents do not realize is that there are no regulations on groomers, meaning your next-door neighbor could decide they want to be a groomer and open a grooming business tomorrow with ZERO knowledge or experience. I enrolled in Animal Behavior College which consisted of online classroom work, hands on clinicals grooming my and friends' dogs, and several months of training with a professional groomer before I could take my final exam. I then continued my training with a professional groomer where I still work part time today. I am also canine CPR/first aid certified and carry insurance in case the misfortunate of an injury to your pet may occur during the groom. These are all things I would expect from my own groomer and you, and your pet deserve nothing less!
*Please read all of Aa List Dog Grooming, LLC, policies! By scheduling an appointment you are agreeing to follow and abide by each of them.*
Aa List Dog Grooming will need 48 hours' notice for canceled appointments. If notice is less than 48 hours, then a $50 fee will be charged at the next scheduled appointment. If there is no one home at the time of the appointment, Aa List Dog Grooming will send a reminder text and wait 15 minutes. If no one has arrived after 15 minutes, a $50 fee will be applied at the next scheduled appointment. Please note that a reminder text will be sent out 48 hours before your appointment giving you the option to cancel/reschedule at that time.
Aa List Dog Grooming recognizes that it is natural for some dogs to be nervous or fearful when it comes to new people in their environment until trust can be established. However, if your dog demonstrates aggressive behavior, in general, then Aa List Dog Grooming will not be able to groom your pet. If aggression is a factor at the time of or during the appointment, the groom will stop immediately, and you will be expected to pay full price. If you have a senior dog who is experiencing “doggie dementia”, every attempt will be made to complete the groom until it becomes unsafe for your pet, and groomer, at which time other grooming options will be discussed. Aa List Dog Grooming recognizes that many dogs may be fearful during certain aspects of the groom, (for example nail trims), and soft muzzles may be used during these times to help prevent injury to your pet and groomer.
Meeting people and being welcomed into homes is one of the great benefits of being an in-home groomer. It goes without saying that clients are generally very helpful and kind, but as a reminder, Aa List Dog Grooming expects their working environment to be safe, healthy, and free of toxins. If you are a smoker or you vape, it is simply asked that you refrain from doing so in your home until the services are complete and the groomer has left your residence. It is also asked that, mainly during the winter months, that snow is removed making your home accessible and any icy or hazardous areas are tended to.
Aa List Dog Grooming will not groom dogs over 30lbs.. However, there is no weight limit on nail service!
If your dog has fleas, Aa List Dog Grooming will not be able to provide our nail trim or pet grooming services. Since we are an in-home grooming business, it can only be assumed that the fleas are also within the home where your pet is living. This would put the groomer at high risk of carrying the fleas to the next client's home and exposing their pet.
As the pet owner, you are expected to keep your pet comfortable and healthy. Small amounts of matting can occur due to coat exposure to water, friction, or dirt. However, if the matting is substantial enough where a complete dematting brush out is necessary before the bath, then the additional dematting fee will apply. Sometimes the matting is too tight to the dog’s skin and would cause them excruciating pain if they were put through a brush out. In this case the only option is to shave them. Matting causes your dog pain, skin irritations due to parasites and fungal infections, bruising, and hematomas. That being said, as a pet owner, know that your dog’s skin may get nicked or cut while shaving while trying to remove the matts from the skin. Hematomas on the tips of ears are also a risk if a dog repeatedly shakes their head after removing heavy matts from their ears. Please understand that every precaution is taken to prevent these risks, but nothing is more preventive than brushing your pet once or twice a week!
As the pet owner, you want to make sure that your pet is safe and receiving the best care, so, naturally, you want to be with your pet during the groom. However, this can have the exact opposite outcome when an owner is present. Your pet will want to be with you and will become anxious and start to fidget which puts them, and the groomer, at high risk of being cut and seriously injured. So as a blanket rule, pet parents are asked not to be present during the groom.
